South Lanarkshire residents are being invited to have their say on alcohol issues.

Residents can become members of the council’s Local Licensing Forums to help impact policies affecting licensing decisions.

The forums allow the members of the public to share opinions about alcohol issues in their area.

South Lanarkshire Licensing Board has a licensing forum for each of its four licensing divisions:

  • Clydesdale
  • East Kilbride
  • Hamilton
  • Cambuslang/Rutherglen

Forums are required to meet at least four times a year and must have at least one joint meeting with the Licensing Board.

Each forum should have no fewer than five members and no more than 21 members.

There are currently vacancies in all licensing divisions.

Councillor Lesley McDonald, Chair of the Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, said: “The forums act as a way for the public to voice their opinions about alcohol issues in general rather than a way in which people can complain about individual premises.

“Local Licensing Forums help to shape the policies that affect licensing decisions and are important to our communities.

“Each forum is in need of new members so if you are interested in joining, please do not hesitate to get in touch.”

If you would like to join any of the forums, email the licensing team.
